The presentations and shows of Fashion Week have officially came to a close, but that doesn’t mean you have to let those style ideas fade. Designers embraced a variety of fall fashion trends for the 2016 runways, ranging from effortless to over the top. These are the trends you’ll be wearing in the coming spring.

Shirt Dress

A cheeky riff on the button shirt, a unique style of dress, is adorable over skinny pants, or even better, poolside at Coachella over your bikini.

‘Saying’ Hats

Sunhats were big last summer, and now they’re back, with cute new sayings to boot. A floppy, stylish long brim hat that says ‘wish you were here’ has been waiting to be worn all season long.

Three-Piece Swimwear

From swimwear designer Lisa Marie Fernandez comes a unique selection of three-piece bikini sets. This beach look works great with a short dress even this early in the year.

With the New York fashion week starting this month, there’s no reason why you cant enjoy the same fashion spirit as the big shows. Be spirited with these February fashion ideas.

Floral Spring Dress

Floral dresses combined with a military-blouse, work great in the transition to spring. Heeled booties and tights help to complete the look.

All Black

Black from head to toe is a drop dead chic look that can make a monotone outfit look great. Different fabrics and textures can help add depth to a dark outfit.

Plain White Chic

A simple plain white tee, black skinnies and a colourful beanie is all it takes to create a simple, yet effortlessly cool outfit.

Midi Dress

While normally suited for Friday night wear, a midi dress can work great in the daytime too. Combined with some tough accessories, a leather jacket and lace up booties to finish this edgy style.

While this site focuses primarily on fashion trends, we thought we would look at some of the background of fashion and trends and just how they work.

While fads and fashion are two separate subjects, they hold some similarities that join them in interesting ways. Fashion is seen as the more important of the two. Its general nature is suggested by the contrasting terms “in fashion” and “outmoded.”

These terms represent a pattern of acceptance in peoples general consciousness, as well as a continuing change in social forms. Eventually fashion is replaced by more up to date models of aesthetic.

It is a general parade of social forms that sets fashion apart from custom, which is to be seen as established and fixed. The acceptance of just what is fashionable does not seem to come from any demonstration of utility itself, instead it is a response to the direction of sensitivities and taste.

The new year is almost upon us and so to are the upcoming fashion trends. Be sure to see the new year with a wardrobe fit to tackle it.

Folk and Patchwork

Many of the catwalks this year saw the continuation of the upscale hippy feel. Seventies influenced wardrobes suited with slouchy shapes and silk and velvet patchworks. Combined with a mesh of bohemian prints, this is a trend that stays strong into 2016.

Marshmallow Pink

Baby colours of blue, green, candyfloss and chick yellow contrasted with the intensity of the more intense themes seen on many of the shows. A move towards pastel colours is set to continue through the new year.

The 80s

From the seventies to the eighties, in 2016 these decades will live on. Bright fluorescent looks with touches of patent leather, quilting vinyl and velvet are set to be popular. Accessories include geometric earrings and ski mask sunglasses.
